Everyday

So this night’s over and they’ve gone all home
Wishing one had stayed
So the wind is playing through the old dead tree
And the branches sing the same refrain

Well life goes on no matter where you stand
Or lay down in the rain
And the time will come when the course is run
You won’t get another day

We don’t know what we’re looking for
Only what we find
And the things that we’ve left behind

Wandering among the stars
Our dreams reaching oh so far
And our feet stuck fast in the clay

Praying for another day

Have you ever watched the sun come up
On the darkling waiting sky?
Have you ever felt the catch in your throat
When it starts to finally rise?
And the world spins around a constant miracle
Amazement that we’re still alive
At the same time not sure what it is to live
If it seems we can never thrive

So save me from the every-day
That slowly eats my life away
And never lets me feel the pain

So play the music in the dreams
As parachutes fail at the seams
And all that’s left is to learn to fly

As another day passes by

Life has gone up in smoke
The fire burning down again
To the ashes we started from

Seemingly some cosmic joke
A lottery promised to one who’s broke
If you can just buy the ticket

And I tire at grasping at life
As it passes passes me bye
I died beneath that tree last may
And every storm now the old branches say

He was murdered by the everyday
